Secretaries

Tookie Chanya Siboriboun

Born and raised in Thailand, Chanya ( Tookie) had little clue how far she would go-literally and metaphorically. She started out her career working for New Siam Frames and then as an Account Executive for ICC international, an importing company. Both the business and personal relationships she cultivated in these roles made her realize that she loved communicating with people and making sure their needs are met. Despite the prevailing norm of the soft-spoken, and sometimes accommodating, Thai woman, Chanya’s integrity, grit, and humor made her stand out as a strategic businesswoman.

It is no surprise then that when she uprooted herself from Thailand and settled in Southington, Connecticut, she would succeed as the owner of Somewhere in Bangkok restaurant. She honors her heritage through both the food she serves and the service she provides. She reveals the joy that customers have when they taste her food and deeply values the friendships she has made through this enterprise. The restaurant has received the award for Best Thai Restaurant for ten consecutive years.

Now, as a mother of two unruly children, Chanya’s negotiation skills and patience are tested elsewhere. Although she’s thousands of miles away from her home country, Chanya is proud to join the Ally G board to return the kindness and opportunities that she has been granted throughout her life.
